About Red Bull Ring
The Red Bull Ring is the shortest lap of the season and one of its most picturesque, cut into the Styrian hillsides. Just 10 corners over 4.3 kilometres feels compact on television, but the elevation change per lap is among the largest in F1. Two long straights with DRS make the Austrian Grand Prix one of the best overtaking venues currently on the calendar.
Leading on the final lap, Rubens Barrichello slowed and let Michael Schumacher past for the win on team orders. The crowd booed; the FIA banned team orders shortly after.
Both Mercedes retired on a hot afternoon. Max Verstappen took his first Red Bull Ring win, the brand's first home victory at the venue they had owned since 2014.
A sprint-weekend race ended with Norris and Verstappen tangling at Turn 3 while battling for the lead. Both punctured; Russell inherited the win, and the title narrative shifted.
